Background information about why children’s day is celebrated Every year, the country celebrates Children’s Day on November 14. The day celebrates and commemorates the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. This is because Nehru was extremely fond of kids and they, in return, affectionately called him ‘Chacha Nehru’.

The date for this day was chosen by Pandit Nehru himself while he was a prison during the revolution

Children’s Day 2021 is observed on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Children’s Day 2020 is observed on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Customary observance (Schools) is held in many countries each year to promote children’s well-being and to show support for children around the world who are orphaned or suffer from poverty and neglect. Kids enjoy special activities such as parades with floats made by them; stories read to them by a famous person etc.

This is also a special time for them to listen and learn about activities and recitals, workshops etc., in their school. Children’s Day may be observed during the whole month of November in some countries.

A holiday (also called an observance) is a day designated for observing a : such as celebrations of historical events or holidays with religious significance such as Easter or Hanukkah.

Since this day is celebrating kids and their well-being, schools around the nation organize special events for all students to participate in! The usual activities include: arts and crafts workshops, story time with a famous person (e.g. author), parades etc., but there may be other options depending on what might please and interest your children and school! This day is an important way of showing families everywhere our appreciation and support for the younger generation and how we hope that they will become happy adults one day. Although the exact origin is not known, Children’s Day was first celebrated in Sweden on June 6, 1924. This date was chosen by a group of Swedish children because it commemorated the day when children were recognized as being equal in importance to adults with regard to their personal freedom. The law was introduced after five boys aged 15-17 had been executed for murder under the age 18 years old capital punishment for this crime had previously been abolished in 1910
